MPVA Open House an Outstanding Success!

The Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America (MPVA) Chapter Headquarters in Novi, Michigan, was the place to be on Thursday, April 16, 2009 as people from all around the state joined the Chapter in celebrating nearly 5 decades of service during the MPVA's Annual Open House.

Each year, the second week of April is recognized as Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Awareness Week, and 34 PVA Chapters across the country take time to recognize their years of service. "PVA Awareness Week was created with the hope of sharing the PVA's mission and its countless accomplishments with our nation's citizens. Many Americans are unaware of the PVA's existence or the organization's important contributions to the disability community," said Kevin Elya, MPVA's Chapter President. "PVA Awareness Week is our opportunity to let Americans know we are here and continuing to serve", Elya stated.

In Michigan, "PVA Awareness Week kicked-off with a full week of activities to educate the public about the MPVA and demonstrate the difference this organization, and the many businesses and individuals who support it, make in the lives of paralyzed veterans and others with disabilities. We would like to take this opportunity and thank all of our sponsors, researchers, and supporters that help contribute to a better quality of life for the people the MPVA serves. I would also like to thank each and every person that supported our Annual Open House---together we are all proving there is more than one way to stand tall!
